imtoken will never ask for your seed phrase, private key or verification code. Always review the address, network and request details before transferring, signing or approving.

FAQ

Clear answers to common wallet, network, Web3 and security questions.

What is the imtoken wallet?

imtoken is a multi-chain wallet and Web3 knowledge center. A wallet helps manage addresses, networks and on-chain interactions while seed phrases and private keys remain under the user’s control.

What is the difference between a seed phrase and a private key?

Both can represent wallet control. A seed phrase can derive multiple accounts, while a private key is specific key material. Neither should be shared with another person.

Why must I confirm the network before a transfer?

The same address format can appear on different networks and assets can exist on separate chains. Choosing the wrong network may prevent the transfer from arriving as intended.

What is gas?

Gas is the network-computation fee concept used for transactions and smart-contract execution. Actual fees change with the network and congestion.

What is a transaction hash used for?

A transaction hash is a durable lookup reference that can be used in the relevant block explorer to check status, block height and confirmations.

Does connecting to a DApp automatically move assets?

A connection usually establishes a session, but later signatures, approvals or transactions can affect assets or permissions. Review each request separately.

Is a message signature the same as a transaction signature?

No. A message signature often proves address control or confirms intent, while a transaction signature authorizes a transaction that can change on-chain state.

What is a token approval?

A token approval lets a contract use tokens within a defined allowance. Review the contract and allowance, and consider revoking permissions you no longer need.

Why do EVM network addresses look the same?

Many EVM-compatible networks use the same address format, but they are independent networks. Balances, gas and contract state are not shared.

How is Layer 2 related to mainnet?

A Layer 2 expands transaction capacity while relying on a relationship with the base network for security or settlement. Cross-layer transfers can involve bridging, confirmations and waiting periods.

How can I spot phishing?

Verify the domain source, avoid unexpected links, reject requests for seed phrases and be cautious with signatures that do not match the action you intended.

Can official support recover my private key?

No. Seed phrases and private keys are controlled by the user. Official staff will not request them and cannot reconstruct a key that was not safely backed up.

Does Ethereum staking guarantee returns?

No. Rewards can change, exits may take time, validators may face penalties, and smart-contract and asset-price risks remain.

What does a PoS validator do?

Validators perform consensus duties such as proposals and attestations. Their status, availability and protocol rules affect outcomes and rewards.

What should I do if a transaction stays pending?

Keep the transaction hash and check it in the correct explorer. Review the network, nonce, fee settings and congestion before submitting another transaction.

Is public Wi-Fi safe for wallet use?

Public networks add environmental risk. For wallet actions and signatures, prefer trusted devices and networks and keep the operating system and browser updated.
